Tagaytay's Very Own Memory Lane

We just came from Lourdes Church, and we decided to go here and have our lunch since its near,  so we can also tick this off on our must-try list.

Very famous as the restaurant of Jolina Magdangal's family, we decided to try this one out since we are just an hour and a half away from Tagaytay.

This place as I can say is really very homey, like what all the others are saying, a perfect type of restaurant if you are already in Tagaytay. No need for airconditoners, or electric fans (though they have one).

I read different reviews, and blogs before going here. Mostly all are negative that they do not like the service and the food. According to them, their waiting time usually takes an hour before their food arrives. So when me and the boyfriend went here, we did not expect that much already.

When we arrived there, there were few customers, but one group is a bit big, so it looks like as if there are lots of people. With the perfect breeze in Tagaytay, this place really gives you the relaxing and homey feels.

It gives you the vibes of the tv show Full House way back then.

It says here welcome, but we didn't feel as if we are welcome.

Since we are already sooo hungry, we decided to order food first before taking pictures. We just started taking them while we are waiting for our food to arrive, because again, we're prepared for a ruined day because of most blogs and reviews we have read.

This is their menu. The choices are not so many and a bit pricey. Their service charge also is a bit big.

Th second thing that we'e noticed, the reviews are correct in a sense that the service is very bad. The servers there feels like they do not want to get our orders, nor they gave us an impression that they are not grateful we visited there. They never smiled. (As if what we ordered is just a glass of iced tea, we'll understand)

These are what we ordered:
Mom's Tender Juicy Babyback Ribs

The Charcoal Grilled Chicken

Memory Lane's Special Iced Tea.

A lot reviews said that their food is not good. I might disagree with them on this part. The babyback ribs is good for us, its well-done. The side vegetables however, tastes processed, like the ones you can buy on the frozen good section on your local grocery stores.

The service? For us it's quite fast. We waited for just maybe 15-20mins. Which is understandable knowing that we ordered babyback ribs. Right after we're done, we decided not to buy dessert here because nothing on the menu really caught our attention.

Here's the view of the place:

There's this little souvenir/ gift shop inside where you can buy some novelty items. I just think that there are some really overpriced, like a  2x2 memo pad I think or Sticky Note, it costs P250.00 (I'll just buy the Post-It brand, with that price I can already buy 2) There's also some pre-loved items from them, and old albums of Jolina Magdangal that you can buy.

The radio up there is still working. Jolina's dad came and he just switched that on, and then proceed right away to the office inside. There are only two tables inside that our occupied, ours and another one, and he did not even bother to ask how was our dining experience. No wonder the staff was also like that. I just wish they were properly oriented on how to run a business like this, because I think it's hard to earn loyal customers with that attitude. (I get it from the blogs that I just read, most of them said they won't come back anymore at this place).

They have a place here which is for rent if you are looking for an event venue, This place at the back is the ones to be rented for special occasions only.

Over-all, if I were to ask,

I will come back here only for the food, and for the place (if my family or my friends wishes to see this place) But maybe i'll just buy one for take-out and not really stay here. I'd rather dine on fast-food chain where the staff are friendly and accommodating enough. But this is a really good experience over-all, of course we did not let the vibes ruin our day.

How to get here:

If you are coming from Manila:
1. you can ride a bus at Coastal Mall with signboard going to Batangas or Tagaytay (Mendez, or Alfonso).
2. Tell the bus conductor to drop you off at Magallanes Square Hotel, There's a sign there already of Memory Lane. You just have to walk straight and you'll see that already, on Google Maps, its just an 8min.walk. (Its up to you if you are going to ride a tricycle going there. But I suggest not.the breeze is good for walking, no need for you to reason out "its too hot". haha! )

If you are coming from EDSA:
1. There's a bus going to Tagaytay starting from Ortigas or Ayala. You can go there and just wait for the bus. Same goes for the instructions, tell the bus conductor that you are going to Magallanes.

Hope my review helps you too my dear readers.
